The current version is 3.6.11.

To check the current version installed on your computer:

• Run MS-RAP

• In the menubar, click Help, and then About. The version number is written there.

Please request assistance when upgrading from 3.0 or earlier to 3.1, as there were some large changes.

Step by Step Guide to Upgrading

Step 1: Backup your Databases

This is always a very important step to perform before upgrading anything. Very rarely, databases are corrupted because of various bugs and quirks, so having a backup is essential to pinpointing the problem and recovering.

You can do this step 2 ways:

1. Run MS-RAP Backup. Click Backup All Now

2. OR backup from within the main MS-RAP application:

   1. Run MS-RAP.

   2. On the menubar, click File and Perform Backup.

   3. This should back up all your databases. Refer to the user manual if you have any problems.

Step 2: Download

1. You may need to update the WIBU security key driver. Download this file: WkRuntime_5-20b.exe, (or get the latest version from the WIBU website then run it to install the driver).

2. Click the number and your web browser will start to download an installation file.

3. Save this file somewhere (eg, your Desktop).

4. You can also download the electronic version of the manual from here: MS-RAP Version 3.chm. This file must be placed in the same directory that MS-RAP is installed to.

Step 3: Install

1. If its your first time installing MS-RAP, then you will also need to install this: MySQL_ODBC_3-51-19.exe. Note, there is more to install, please ask for assistance. This section will be expanded in the future.
   This is an unzipped and unmodified version of the official release. The official release can be found here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/3.51.html
   
   You may also need to install the MySQL server, but that is usually done when we first visit the site. mysql-3.23.58-win.zip

2. Minimise your web browser and double-click the saved file on the desktop.

3. A window will appear on your screen. Click Browse and choose the MS-RAP installation folder (eg, My Computer, C:, MS-RAP). Click Ok.

Step 4: Try it out

1. The files have now been extracted to your computer. The shortcuts on the Desktop that were originally set up will still work. Run MS-RAP by double-clicking on the icon on your Desktop.

2. Depending on changes to the software, you may be asked to upgrade your database. Again, please ensure that you have backed up your databases.

Troubleshooting

• iss_scripts_v8.tar.gz - to extract, type "tar zxfv iss_scripts_v8.tar.gz" on the unix command prompt. Don't extract on a Windows computer as it tends to add "DOS carriage returns" to the files.

• EVP format (from a site in April, 2008): evp_04_2008.pdf

• generate_minodes_from_designs.reg - configures the registry so v3.6.10 and above will work better with design-type survey files. Note that regular survey files may no longer generate good minodes any longer. To undo the changes to the registry, delete the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Australian Centre for Geomechanics\MS-RAP v3.6\survey_minodegen"
